Goetia Summoning the traditional magical way

Why would you desire to summon any of the Goetic Spirits? Power? Knowledge? I can tell you now that whatever you desire, goetia summoning does not work!

For a start, the Goetia are everywhere, so by definition, you can not be in a very good place for otherwise you would not need to summon them. Kings summon their subjects, they summon their servants, people summon their inferiors. So, why would you summon an inferior for the pursuit of power and knowledge? You wouldn’t! Either they have power, or they are inferior – magicians make your mind up…

Besides, all the Goetia have titles, such as King, Earl, Duke, Marquis, so they are hardly likely to be summoned in the first place. The Goetia are also indifferent to all the Names of Gods – except for one situation, discussed below. The truth is that it is easy to work in a very friendly and amical with the Goetic Spirits. After, I don’t summon my friends, and I doubt nor do you, unless you are particularly arrogant. See the Goetia as equal, but different.

Mutual benefits between Humans and Goetia

Humans and Goetia have a lot to gain mutually. They do not need to be summoned, just be aware of their presence. Nor do they need to be dismissed, which is the logical conclusion of a summons. My friends who work with the Goetia, say they often have one or two of the Goetic spirits around them all day. A simple invitation, or awareness of what is already out there.

The last thing that is needed is an Abra-melin ritual, unless of course you want to lose prestige, and waste six months of your life on a pointless pursuit. If the Goetia are everywhere (and they are), a magician who summons or invokes/evokes them is blind, for how can you summon something that is already there?

Invoke or Evoke?

This also begs the question, when the Goetia are summoned/invoked/evoked by traditional methods, what appears? Whatever appears to the magician at that moment is not a Goetic Spirit, hence the total lack of knowledge or benefit from the experience. Another misconception I have seen on the web; there is an idea that you can put a goetic spirit in a crystal!

The Goetia are everywhere, a fundamental aspect of the Universe, so again, why would you want to do such a thing in the first place? Another way of thinking about this is to say that there really are musicians in the radio – because you can hear them! We might experience the Sun going around the Earth, but we also know that it is actually the other way round.
